Craft of the Month - Needle Felting

January Craft of the Month

For my first craft of the month post I decided to have a go at needle felting and took a workshop at Treacle Wool Shop in Morpeth with my mum and her friends.

The first piece we learned how to make was a simple flower. Since it's flat it's one of the easiest pieces to learn first. It's fast to make and great to practice with.

We had loads of really pretty colours to choose from, as you can see from the picture above, so everyone's flowers were different and unique. This is mine, not bad for a first time!

Next we worked on making a round piece, a really cute robin! Rather than felting the whole thing we started off with a foam ball and worked the wool around it to create the body, then felted the head seperately entirely out of wool.

We all had an amazing time at the class and I would definitely recomend checking them out! (Treacle Wool Shop Workshops) The class was really well priced, drinks and biscuits where complimetary,  the tutor was amazing and you even got to keep the felting needle and block. I can't wait to use my new skills to make more things in the future. Next - Project Bunny!

Temperature Blanket - January 2016

I've finally managed to catch up enough to show you all the start of my 2016 Temerature Blanket!

Since I'm only changing colours in 5 degree intervals and live in rainy old Northumberland, I haven't got that much of a colour change for this month, but I did manage to stick in a couple of different stitches for a snow day and a heavy rain day. Please hurry up spring so I can change colours!

Can't wait to see how everyone elses are turning out and to see the differences from all around the world.
